Our new LEED Professional: Randy Kulp

Randy Kulp, Associate Broker with Melaver Mouchet, has received his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council, making him a LEED Accredited Professional. LEED APs have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes.

Licensed in both Georgia and South Carolina, Kulp joined the Melaver Mouchet team in January of 2009. For the past four years he has acted as a broker, developer and principal in the Savannah area with an emphasis on Historic Preservation projects in the Landmark District.

He specializes in commercial and investment real estate sales, tax-preferred programs, joint ventures and development alliances. His broad knowledge base, with special emphasis in bringing together individuals to create partnerships for development and investment projects, is a key asset to his successful real estate career.

While active in the Georgia Historical Foundation, the Historic Savannah Foundation, (where he was the recipient of the 2008 Historic Preservation Award) and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kulp is also pursuing the distinguished CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation.

Patricia Bryant was the winner of the Service Award given out by Buy Local Savannah, the Downtown Business Association, the Savannah Area Tourism Leadership Council and the Savannah Waterfront Association. Patricia works at the Hyatt Regency Savannah as a front desk agent. This is always an exciting event and it was a packed house at the Trade Center.

Savannah’s first green housing development features Extreme Insulation

As Phase I of Sustainable Fellwood nears completion, new residents
in the first 110 apartments have already begun to learn about the new features in their “green home”. Sustainable Fellwood is a three-phased community in the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Neighborhoods pilot program. Each apartment building will be LEED for Homes certified in this mixed use, mixed income community, which includes 11 buildings in Phase one, 10 buildings in Phase two, and one senior high rise in Phase three.

Each building is constructed with a thermally efficient building envelope which includes a vapor barrier on top of OSB (orient strand board) sheathing. All penetrations in the sheathing are sealed with caulk or spray foam, and then insulated with R19 spray applied cellulose insulation (made from recycled newspaper). This provides an extra barrier for energy efficiency and balanced temperature comfort. Read More Here

Newly furnished Model Apartment at Sustainable Fellwood

We took a tour of Sustainable Fellwood at the ribbon cutting and groundbreaking held on May 28th. The model apartment is super and the leasing agent is right on site – The Lane Company. This is Savannah’s first green housing development located just west of the Historic District on Bay Street.
